Inter-comparison of global ice sea coupling model based on NEMO and MITgcm

Abstract Two global high-resolution ice sea coupling model established on basis of NEMO and MITgcm were systematically evaluated, by comparing the climatology simulation results their surface temperature, salinity, current area with SODA3, EN4, NSIDC. The accuracy each element in typical areas are quantitatively evaluated. RMSE SST modeled 0.38°C 0.46°C, respectively. had lower strong areas, especially Kuroshio Antarctic circumpolar currents, while better simulations low-middle latitudes most Arctic Ocean. SSS is 0.47psu 0.69psu, highest two models 0.0465m/s 0.0474m/s, both have high currents. simulated basically same as that NSIDC spatial morphology, absolute value relative error within 25%. inter-comparison evaluation provide a reference for product application improvement models.
